Minor Frustration
We're doing a zombiepocalypse game. The breakout has just reached epidemic proportions. This is also pan-fandom with a retooling of most of the characters so they're not over powered. That works out great! In fact, it's very fun. We also picked this up after letting it alone for a while so you wanted to switch out one character for another. That's cool, I've known you forever and we roleplay on a daily basis together. We're best friends, even. Then you find out one character, who you already knew would had to have picked up a love interest somewhere to have a son for the sequel, has a canon love interest. Yeah, okay, I can see why you're pissed but... but... but... ...suddenly having your pup, whose already suffering from a torn ligament with the only person with medical knowledge being the mortician, go into a sudden suicidal slump for no apparent reason? Please, please, please turn that around! My pup would be heartbroken if yours died and she's the one who thinks she's got the worst skill set. Please don't take your IRL frustrations IC. It makes the game harder to play in. Current Mood:  irritated |

Okay, look. You know I love you and that I love playing with you, but complaining about how my character is acting after something YOU did when I told you beforehand how he would react? Not cool. Yes, it's your character, you're completely within your rights to do whatever you want with him (including dropping him), but I gave you a heads-up that my character would be extremely upset and probably intolerable for a while as a result because that's the way he reacts to things in canon. It's not like it came as a surprise, so for the love of God don't whine at me when he acts exactly the way I told you he would. And then you turn around and try to guilt-trip someone ELSE for saying they're going to drop a character? Uh, that's more than a little bit hypocritical of you, isn't it? I offered suggestions to help you get the voice back for your pup, asked if you could put him on hiatus for a while instead and told you that I really didn't want you to drop him if at all possible because of how close he was to my character, but I didn't push the matter beyond that. But here you are in chat making constant sad smilies and saying how much you're going to miss X's character (who isn't even all that close to yours) and that you don't want them to drop... that just rubs me the wrong way. |

So How's the View When You Drop Off the Face of the Earth?
So, my fellow RPer, you are aware that we are nearing the end of our particular plotline. You are aware that everyone is wrapping up the individual stories associated with this plotline. You sent out an email to the whole group asking for something to do with your security character. My character is currently in dire straits elsewhere in the same space station, with no other character that isn't involved to help her out. I emailed you with a proposal to have your character help mine. I could write her out of it myself, but I figured I'd be nice and we could do a post together to wrap it up. You respond with an enthusiastic response, and an idea to leave for a later storyline. More than I wanted, but still kind of a neat idea. We spend the week (as this is a very slow-moving game) hashing out plot points, and you finally send me a portion of a post that... really has nothing to do with the actual plot but a lot to do with our idea. Okay. I work it into a longer post linked to the actual events and send what I have to you for approval and your additions and editing. You send me a response saying that you had computer problems, but would be able to get at least your opinion to me in a day or two. That was a week ago. I've heard nothing since, everyone else is discussing where to go next, and my character is still in dire straits. I know you have a Blackberry that you can access your email on, your computer was supposed to be back from the shop last week, and there are multitudes of libraries and cybercafes that you can go to in order to send me a fast, one-sentence email saying that I'll need to take care of it myself because RL just whomped you good instead of leaving me dangling like this. Thanks a lot. See if I ever write a post with you again. |

Dear Vampire-Queen-Goddess-Immortal-Admin of the RPG, Your way of showing you like members of the RP is charming, but I'd rather not be vamp-raped. Your way of showing you hate someone's character for no reason is even more charming. OOC grudges? Oh, please. The best RPer that's left of the group breaks character constantly to talk about modern movies and books inside of a Medieval RP world. I've finally been forced to my breaking point by a few people. See folks I've been doing pretty well rp wise. Me and everyone else on FORMERSITE! that I used to talk about just up and left. I started a new site and it's been drama llama free for the most part and everything has been flowing. New plot, new site, but much to my disdain some of the same problems have been popping up. They will be addressed numerically.

More so if you spent a good, I dunno, hour on it setting it all up making it all pretty because they wouldn't bother doing anything for you so you figured you'd try to preserve your failing verse yourself. More so after the fact that they bitched about you never posting something for them. |

You know what I hate, BRPS? Fake apologies. The most common type I've seen: player is corrected on something, or asked to fix something, or their speshul snowflake doesn't get the attention they deserve. Player has a flounce, often citing "I just can't deal with this right now, I'll get back online when I'm less upset," or something similar. Rest of players, rather than fawn all over butthurt player, shrug, say okay, good luck with that, and get on with life. How dare they omgzzzzz. Butthurt player lurks around for a while, then comes back and posts thinly veiled passive-aggressive "apology" for previous behavior. Expect to see shitty defense for prior actions, reiteration of how upset they were, and how they are okay now and will be BEST RPER EVER FROM NOW ON, OKAY GUIZ? As far as I can see, the only purpose for posting one of these is to draw attention back to the fact that you flounced, because no one cared enough the first time. Also, I don't know why these people think that their passive-aggressiveness is undetectable just because it's The Internets. Subtext, motherf***er, do you read it. EDIT: for clarification, upon reading... This isn't about real apologies. Everyone makes mistakes. This is about the attention-seeking kind only. |

Notification System
**FINAL EDIT Thu Dec 10 02:15:47 UTC 2009** So there is the final update... Over the past day we have processed around 11 million jobs out of the 12 million that were in queue at that time. Please bear in mind that over this past day, more jobs for notifications are also created. So while the queue has been dropping, we are still not fully caught up at this point, due to backlog and new jobs. We have roughly 3 million jobs still pending that involve the notification system in some manner. We had hoped we could have fully cleared the queue in a day, but unfortunately we can't clear it too quickly, since we need the rest of the site to operate normally. From our current perspective on the amount of jobs that are left in queue, and how many it has processed thus far, we believe it will take around another 8 - 12 hours to process everything. Yes, my Death Knight is undead. That kinda goes with, you know, being a Death Knight. Yes, I know she's not a Forsaken. That doesn't make her any less dead. No, your character does not have the magical means to cure undeath and make her living again. I don't care if a lore character whose name I can't remember right now was successfully brought back from undeath, however it happened, your character cannot do it. If it were a feat that were easily performed, I suspect there would be a lot less walking corpses roaming around Azeroth right now. Failing that, don't plead with me to change my character's story and make her a living DK "just for [you]". If I wanted to play a living character, I wouldn't have rolled a DK. Also, I don't care if you think it's a shame that she's not pretty. If that's what you're looking for, there are plenty of living/not-a-DK/really-a-high-elf types wandering around who'd fit the bill. Don't fixate on my character simply because she's the first one you came across. |

Euh.....
Okay, so this was definitely brps worthy (hell, this entire girl is brps worthy, but something happened last night that really needed to be posted). Okay, so this is gonna be short and sweet, little bit of background information, and what have you. There is a girl, let's call her K, that I work with. She is very much obsessed with role playing in the Heroes Universe (which is odd to me since she is playing in a world full of super heroes, yet more than once has gone off to convents to try and be a nun... oh yes... tried is the key word). Every time I work with her she begs me to join the website she is on, and I tell her no. I've told her no every single time (but then she starts reading out loud her posts from her phone). When she isn't begging me to join the forum she is on (and no, I'm not even joking when I say she is begging), she keeps asking if she can join the forums that I'm on ("no... we rp sex sometimes... don't join it, you wouldn't like it" is nearly my answer every time). She hasn't given up after at least four months (hell, it might be six). But this isn't what made me stare at her in fear, it was last night when this conversation was had. Me : *staring off into the distance silently* K : and I made a new character! Did I tell you? blah blah blah blah blah. She's my new character in the Heroes universe! I'll show you a picture of her cyber cast. Me : *has grown accustom to tuning her out, and grunts in reply* K : Her powers are changing the testosterone in men so they'll fight over her. Me : *blinks* whut? K : Yeah, she makes them all aggressive, and want her, and then they fight over who gets to be with her. ... Really!? Come on! I curled up and fell asleep in a corner after that, whimpering of the horror that I just heard... and wishing I was making this up. |

( People. Due to very....affecting issues the part of the RP where Character A accidently stabbed Character B.... Never happened. Due to the affects of it hurting me too much...I should have warned you guys ahead of time that too much drama makes me emotionally unstable and very sick....Once in another RP I got so sick due to the emotional stress of the drama in RP that I threw up.... So.... I'm just asking this once... Please keep the drama between Character B/Character A in RP to a minimum....? If not none...? )Then WHY DID YOU SUGGEST IT IN THE FIRST PLACE? Not exactly bad RP, but it might be primed to go sour. So I join an RP with a character; he's abrasive, he's got mommy issues, highly intelligent, has problems with his social caste, puts everybody down when he can, never had a girlfriend because LOL LEARNING IS COOLER THAN WIMMINS, high-class snob, etc. He's pretty much 'holier-than-thou' if it were defined. About one hour later, a new character gets accepted. She's...abrasive, has daddy issues, highly intelligent, has problems with her social caste, tends to put people down, never had a boyfriend because LOL I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO...LIKE LEARN, high-class snob, etc. Is pretty much 'holier-than-thou' if it were defined. My boy's turn-ons are: smokers, blue eyes, intelligence. (he's a reclusive virgin who's a little terrified of women). She's got blue eyes, smokes and is intelligent. She's a Leo, he's a Scorpio, and apparently those signs in relation mean 'A dramatic and passionate relationship', though the signs I could be reading too much into. They work in the same place, and both of their jobs/situations are eerily similar. She fears the exact situation that he's gotten himself into, which is prime for him being her woobie and her using her socialstatus!!11!one! to get him back into the public's good graces, despite his predicament, and to do what he's dedicated his life to, which is to make mommy happy (and she'd be damn happy if he found a good high-class girl, because their families are very purity-oriented.) Basically, she's him if you just added tits. I'm wondering; should I be worried of 'They're so perfect for each other, see? WE SHOULD PAIR THEM UP!', or am I just a little bit paranoid? EDIT: Oh guess what? I found her pup's turn-ons. Guess who they describe to the letter? Ayup. And with the Big Bad and the Good Guys of the RP, my boy's indifferent. So is their girl. On teh evol skillz of the RP, my boy's pretty much 'It's cool to use them when you need to, but I wouldn't go overkill'. Her girl is, 'I'm fascinated by them, and I think it's perfectly acceptable to use them when you have to. I wouldn't go overboard with them, though'. And her girl's mother has been pressuring her into getting married soon. My boy's been getting prodded by his mom to get married for years. Mmhm. |

Character Importance
When exactly did your character become more important than mine, or anyone else? I've missed a session or two, we all have. None of us complained when the rest of the group played through without us. You miss one session and what, did we burst your fantasy bubble? Is it suddenly not real enough for you? It's bad enough that you threw this huffy, passive-aggressive tantrum when you learned we'd played a session without you, but now you refuse to show up at all? Seriously, are you six years old? |

This might just be my anger talking, as it usually does, but we'll see if I'm just making something out of nothing. With recent weather changes I've been having yo-yo type of sinus issues (I mean, really, when we go from sixty degree weather and sunny one day to twenty degrees and snow/flurries and back to fifty with sun, it's bound to mess me up) and with those I haven't been feeling very well at the very least. Which means I don't really have the brain to RP at the moment, coherent sentences and such are far beyond my grasping. That coupled with work makes me just want to sleep or have nice conversation in the chat without having to worry about tags. Everyone else understands this, why don't you? I tell you simply that I'll get around to tagging it later when I can form coherent sentences, at first you understand and back off. However, when you come back less than thirty minutes later pestering me for a tag, it makes me want to fucking smack you. I told you, I'm not feeling well and thus do not want to make a shitty little tag because of it. Really. You back off again which thankfully lasts longer than thirty minutes, but less than an hour. And we're back to the same routine. Shit, just... please, just back off and let me feel better. I'm doing this so you have something better to tag to when my brain can form proper words and sentences. |
